Miami ART CULTURE.

This past saturday June,12th was gallery walk at the Wynwood and Miami Design District. After being present for my exhibition at the design district I decided to go for a walk around the other galleries and take a look at some of the other artist works. It  is amazing the local talent that you can find in miami. I was also impressed by the amount of people that showed up to all the exhibitions; there were thousands of people walking and apreciating the art.

Later that night me and my friend Pedro had an urban encounter with a random guy. His name is Marcos Fledman. Marcos is studying urban sociology at the moment. We found him sitting down in the middle of wynwood district at 11:00 pm writing notes on his note pad. After a few exchanged words, he told us that the notes that he was writing were for his new project. His research is based on finding an answer or a  logic purpose for why Miami art culture is developing NOW and with such power.

After my past two years of work, exhibitions, and being part of the growth that the miami cultural scene has had, it was the first time that I asked my self  the same question… WHY IS MIAMI ART CULTURE  SUDDENLY DEVELOPING ON SUCH A GREAT LEVEL?!?

We spoke to Marcos and one of his friends for a few hours and there were several reasons why this change maybe happening. One of the reason maybe because miami has been slaking or in need of the cultural scene.  Other reason was because of the amount of people with different nationalities; the mixing of all the cultures might be a reason for this change.  Also its been proved that Miami has changed over the years several times. Like always there is the political and the economic side of everything and this is no exception.

I think that there is really no exact explanation for the change that its happening in this city. In my opinion its a combination of all of those reasons. But what ever it might be I am glad  as a Miami local artist to be part of IT.  Keep the creativity and the energy coming!!!

Here are a few pics taken of the night.
