PAREDES!07.02.10

On saturday june, 12 I had the chance of meeting a fellow artist. Also to admire his work and the great succes he has had. His name is Miguel Paredes. I first saw Miguels work last december during Art Basel, in his Miami exhibition in Lincoln  Road. I was very impressed by his use of color and his digital compositions! But this past saturday  was the unveiling of Miguel Paredes new mosaic mural in the Wynwood district. The mural it is definatly a great work of art.  Thanks to the success of artist like Miguel Paredes, for me it is an inspiration and a relief that all my hard work and dedication will payoff and most important be appreciated by our culture.

Miami ART CULTURE.06.15.10

This past saturday June,12th was gallery walk at the Wynwood and Miami Design District. After being present for my exhibition at the design district I decided to go for a walk around the other galleries and take a look at some of the other artist works. It  is amazing the local talent that you can find in miami. I was also impressed by the amount of people that showed up to all the exhibitions; there were thousands of people walking and apreciating the art.

Later that night me and my friend Pedro had an urban encounter with a random guy. His name is Marcos Fledman. Marcos is studying urban sociology at the moment. We found him sitting down in the middle of wynwood district at 11:00 pm writing notes on his note pad. After a few exchanged words, he told us that the notes that he was writing were for his new project. His research is based on finding an answer or a  logic purpose for why Miami art culture is developing NOW and with such power.

After my past two years of work, exhibitions, and being part of the growth that the miami cultural scene has had, it was the first time that I asked my self  the same question… WHY IS MIAMI ART CULTURE  SUDDENLY DEVELOPING ON SUCH A GREAT LEVEL?!?

We spoke to Marcos and one of his friends for a few hours and there were several reasons why this change maybe happening. One of the reason maybe because miami has been slaking or in need of the cultural scene.  Other reason was because of the amount of people with different nationalities; the mixing of all the cultures might be a reason for this change.  Also its been proved that Miami has changed over the years several times. Like always there is the political and the economic side of everything and this is no exception.

I think that there is really no exact explanation for the change that its happening in this city. In my opinion its a combination of all of those reasons. But what ever it might be I am glad  as a Miami local artist to be part of IT.  Keep the creativity and the energy coming!!!

Here are a few pics taken of the night.

Group show at the BRERA MUSEUM in Italy.05.28.10

Hello everyone!

A few moths ago it was the opening night of my first international exhibition in Wannabee Gallery located in Milan, Italy. Wannabee gallery organized another  group show and decided to include one of my pieces ( “KEEP GOING” 30″ x 40″). This amazing group show took place in BRERA MUSEUM which is considered to be one of the most prestigious institutes and museums in Italy. I am very proud to say that thanks to this group show I have now accomplished one of my many dreams; which is to have the honor of exhibiting my art work in a MUSEUM. I want to thank my family for supporting me every step of the way and Wannabee gallery for appreciating my work on such an overwhelming level.

Here are some pictures of the group show.

Fund Raise for autism and related disabilities.05.26.10

I have been bloging and working for a while with the organization  ”Tropical Nights UMNSU CARD”  that focuses on helping individuals with autism and related disabilities.

This past saturday 22nd of May, was the live auction of the piece “Together” (48″ x 72″) that I donated, in order to raise funds for this great organization. The event took place at the INTERCONTINETAL HOTEL  located in Biscayne Blv. The evening started with a cocktail party  for 500 guests in which I was able to interact with the bitters and talk about the art work. After, we were all invited for dinner in the main room. With a short speach I was able to thank everyone for supporting the organization and also mention how honored I felt to be part of such great cause. The live auction was a great success. The painting sold for great prize raising  $4200 for the organization.

Here are a few pictures of the night that I wanted to share with everyone.
